Signs and Symptoms

Ongoing low back pain often involves more than just physical sensations. You may benefit from our specialised Back Health Class in Richmond if you experience:
Fear of Movement
Avoiding certain activities because you are worried about “damaging” your back.
Persistent Stiffness

A chronic feeling of being “locked” or limited in your range of motion.

Recurrent Episodes

Back pain that seems to flare up with minor triggers or stress.

Loss of Strength

Noticing that your core or legs feel weaker than they used to.

Unhelpful Beliefs

Thinking that your back is “broken” or that you must rest until the pain is zero.

Social Isolation

Discontinuing hobbies or exercise due to the unpredictability of your symptoms.

Evidence-Led Spinal Rehabilitation

Our Back Health Class is strictly aligned with modern pain science and evidence-led clinical standards. We recognise that “non-specific” low back pain is best managed through a combination of guided movement, strength training, and education. Clinical research consistently shows that staying active and challenging unhelpful beliefs about pain are key to long-term recovery. By following these high-authority frameworks, our sessions at Lawton Gate House ensure that you are moving in a way that is safe, purposeful, and designed to desensitise the nervous system.

Who We Help

We support a diverse group of individuals across Richmond and South West London seeking a path out of chronic pain:

  • Long-term Back Pain Sufferers: Those who have experienced discomfort for three months or more.
  • Post-Operative Patients: Individuals who have completed initial 1-to-1 rehab and need ongoing maintenance.
  • Office Workers: Addressing the physical toll of sedentary work on spinal health.
  • Seniors: Improving balance and functional strength to maintain independence.
  • Active Residents: Helping local walkers and runners return to the activities they love in Richmond Park.

Our Back Health Expert

The Back Health Class is led by our Co-Director, Pippa Rollitt. With 34 years of experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist, Pippa brings a wealth of clinical knowledge to every session. She specialises in spinal rehabilitation and is passionate about helping patients overcome the psychological barriers to recovery. Pippa ensures that while the exercises are evidence-led, the atmosphere is positive and encouraging, often noting that laughter and community are essential components of the healing process.
