Edel Casey

Chartered Physiotherapist & Massage Therapist

TEC Level 3 Diploma Holistic massage , BTEC level 4 Sports Massage and Sports injury treatments.

Edel completed her physiotherapy degree from the University of East London in 2017. After graduating, she worked for several years for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust gaining valuable experience in respiratory medicine, neurological rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal outpatients.

Since specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, she has worked with Great Britain Judo and has been part of the medical teams at both The World Athletic Championships and The Commonwealth Games.

In 2021, she began working in professional tennis and holds a privileged role with the All-England Lawn Tennis Club providing valuable physiotherapy support during The Wimbledon Tennis Championships each year. She also works as athlete care manager for the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and travels to tournaments all around the world.

Alongside her current clinical commitments, she is also currently studying a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at the University of Bath.

In her spare time Edel maintains a keen interest in rowing, a sport in which she achieved much success during her teens and early 20’s. Through her own experiences, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the pressures faced by both female and adolescent athletes. She tailors her treatment programmes with injury prevention and performance enhancement at the forefront of her mind. She is also a keen tennis player and has an appreciation for the needs of all “weekend warriors” out there too.

Edel has mastered the skills of analysis and treatment of soft tissue conditions, she works tirelessly and she gets excellent results. Recently she has become involved in teaching anatomy and therapeutic massage, allowing her to pass on her expertise to a new generation of motivated and intelligent soft tissue practitioners.

Edel graduated from University College Cork in 1998 completing a degree in English and Psychology. While at UCC, she competed regularly in national rowing events resulting in much success.

Through her background in tennis and rowing, from a very early age she was inspired to pursue a career in sports and subsequently moved to the UK in 1999 to study a degree in Sports Science at Kingston University.
During her degree she became interested in the field of injury and rehabilitation and decided to combine her Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics knowledge with the ‘hands on’ disciplines of both Holistic and Sports Massage. Both of which she studied with Essentials for Health at St. Thomas’ Hospital, Waterloo.

Edel is a member of the Sports Massage Association and keeps herself up to date with the latest research by attending a variety of CPD courses. She also intends to return to University to study her Masters.
