ITEC Level 3 Diploma Holistic massage , BTEC level 4 Sports Massage and Sports injury treatments.
Edel Casey has been with us since 2008 and we are very proud of her. She joined the practice as a massage therapist but from the start she knew that she wanted to learn more.
It’s tough to pursue the part time route especially when the degree course involves so much clinical work but she graduated from the University of East London in 2017.
From there Edel gained valuable clinical experience at Imperial Health Care Trust. Her junior rotations took place at St.Mary’s Paddington and Charing Cross hospitals.
Edel’s dedication is second to none. She has the superb combination of in depth knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions from her massage therapy skills now combined with excellent clinical problem solving for a range of conditions.
Edel pioneered the covid rehabilitation service at Richmond Physiotherapy following her experience during the pandemic and is now planning the Falls Service for community patients in and around Richmond.
Edel has built an outstanding reputation at Richmond Physiotherapy through sheer hard work and dedication. Elite athletes from a broad spectrum of sports find her and keep coming back.
Edel has mastered the skills of analysis and treatment of soft tissue conditions, she works tirelessly and she gets excellent results. Recently she has become involved in teaching anatomy and therapeutic massage, allowing her to pass on her expertise to a new generation of motivated and intelligent soft tissue practitioners.
Edel graduated from University College Cork in 1998 completing a degree in English and Psychology. While at UCC, she competed regularly in national rowing events resulting in much success.
Through her background in tennis and rowing, from a very early age she was inspired to pursue a career in sports and subsequently moved to the UK in 1999 to study a degree in Sports Science at Kingston University.
During her degree she became interested in the field of injury and rehabilitation and decided to combine her Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics knowledge with the ‘hands on’ disciplines of both Holistic and Sports Massage. Both of which she studied with Essentials for Health at St. Thomas’ Hospital, Waterloo.
Edel is a member of the Sports Massage Association and keeps herself up to date with the latest research by attending a variety of CPD courses. She also intends to return to University to study her Masters.
