I just wanted to pass on a huge thank you to Laura Fidler who I had a physio appointment with yesterday.
She explained the nature of my problem really well, possible avenues to help with it and made a very considerable improvement in one session. I will definitely be back to see her and will gladly recommend her.

I just wanted to pass a big thanks onto Joe for his work with me on a twisted ankle and resulting bad knee. If you could please pass on that I managed the 20 mile race (and 200 obstacles!) without any pain at all and other than a lot of aching muscles today I’m feeling no pain at all now in either ankle or knee. Thanks again.

Dear Pippa, Here is the proof – me at the end of our skiing holiday – still in one piece and on my skis! We had a great time and I was able to do way more than expected. I skied every morning except one rest day in the middle and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks in no small part to you!  I’m slightly stiff now but nothing more than that.

Just wanted to say how pleased I was to be able to ski for a full week last week.I really appreciate your help in recovering, and hope to be back playing some summer hockey as well soon.

After discovering I had a prolapse, the consultant I saw suggested I see Toosie at Richmond Physiotherapy. Well, I had no idea what a womens health physio was or quite what they did as women don’t openly talk about the problems associated with a dysfunctional pelvic floor. I have to admit to dreading the first appointment as we ladies really don’t like ‘those’ examinations and I was feeling generally quite down about my situation. Toosie somehow managed to normalise the whole situation and I went from crying at our first session to having a great laugh with her and later joining her Pilates class to further reinforce the exercises she had taught me. My symptoms are much improved and I feel more confident about my condition. I wish such advice had been more available when I had my babies and would advise anyone post pregnancy to see a womens’ health specialist like Toosie.

Obviously no-one else will be as good!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):):)

My name is Alex Wloch and I ruptured my achilles tendon and had my big toe completely re built. I was recommended to Pippa Rollitt by my surgeon. Within the first 2 minutes of my first session, I felt very confident I was in the best possible hands. As well as being such a knowledgeable and amazing physio she helped me through the mental side of the rehab.

She would always be able to put my mind at ease and make me feel so much better about myself after each session. I was able to contact Pippa anytime with as many questions as I wanted or just simple advice, but when Pippa emailed me just to see how my week is going or asking how I am really showed she cared. Every patient means so much to Pippa and it was an absolute pleasure and delight to be one of your patients.

I would recommend anyone to Pippa as she will fix you!

Thank you so much Pips!!

Alex Wloch. September 2016.

“I’d had a nagging pain and stiffness in my lower back for years and had come to accept it as ‘normal’. But just three sessions with Kate Sheehy at Richmond Physiotherapy have utterly changed that for me and I now have a pain-free back and feel very much more flexible and mobile. Firstly, Kate showed me in careful detail using a 3-D model exactly how all the small components of the spine are designed to move freely together and how mine had stiffened, probably initially from some accident or other event, many years ago.

Next, she skilfully manipulated and started to encourage more movement.

And thirdly she gave me detailed exercises enabling me to continue moving my spine in exactly the right way to gain more and more flexibility. As the flexibility increased, so the pain gradually diminished.

I’m hugely grateful to Kate for giving me the understanding and confidence to actively work through what was otherwise going to remain a life-spoiling constant pain.”

Dear Stephen, Thank you so much for all the physio and uncomfortable massages on my leg. They have helped so much! Now I can run faster than before, with no discomfort or pain. Thank you,

Thanks so much for patching up my knee. I competed in Windsor Triathlon last weekend and didn’t have any pain from either the ride or the run. I also beat my target time by 10 minutes so I’m super chuffed. Thanks.

Just a note to say a huge thank you. I came in for some treatment during February and March after my knee became very painful during training for three Greater Manchester marathon. It had reached the point I was concerned I would not be able to run the full distance, but your prediction was correct and I surprised myself on the day, finishing in 4 hours 6 seconds. So thank you very much again for getting me through my last week’s of training and the race itself! Best wishes,

Suzanne. May 2015

I have been attending therapy at Richmond Physio now for about three and an half years. I have used Richmond Physio as may main source of rehabilitation as I have recovered from several lower spinal surgeries (micro-discectomies) for two prolapsed discs. The clinic itself is extremely well managed by Caroline Obergan. Appointments are made efficiently and with ease and with the newly implemented digital system, you now even receive a reminder email regarding your appointment. Caroline and her staff are always incredibly welcoming and very happy to hep you make any changes you need or answer any questions that arise. All the equipment is quite up to date and the work areas are kept clean and tidy. In my time there, I have worked with a few therapists (due to vacations, scheduling, repatriation, etc.) and I can say that everyone I have met is not only well trained and experienced but also thoroughly dedicated to patient care. Over the last two and an half years I have mainly worked with Bridget Burleigh for physiotherapy and Edel Casey for massage therapy. As I have travelled my long road, Bridget has been the calm, knowledgeable and caring force that has steadfastly guided me to recovery. First and foremost, Bridget’s technical skill is highly impressive and difficult to match. It is reflective not only of her formal training but also of her depth of experience and her genuine passion for the industry. This, combined with her unwavering determination to improve your condition and quality of life and her natural affinity for patient care, produces an excellent quality of service and one that I value a great deal. She has always placed my well-being as the sole priority and has honestly guided me with the tempo of my rehab (when to reflect and slow things down a bit to allow healing and when to push forward hard). I feel very confident in her care. Edel is the best massage therapist that I have ever encountered (and after 10 years of work, I have met many). Edel has a natural ability that to find the necessary pressure and trigger points that are causing your pain and challenging your recovery. I think that also what makes her unique is her desire to continue her Master-level education in the industry. This knowledge is continuously brought into her sessions and shared with her clients. She also happens to be a delightful person.

I had a serious skiing injury on New Year’s Eve, completely rupturing my ACL and also damaging my MCL. When I first saw Stephen a week post injury, my knee was enormously swollen and stiff – I had hardly moved it in a week and had not done any icing since the day of the injury, when I’d sat very awkwardly with a grocery bag full of snow balanced on the knee!

My specialist had explained that getting the swelling down was critical before we proceed with an ACL reconstruction, so I was very keen to try the Compry Cool. Even on the first use (a 20 minute session at home) the impact on the swelling was noticeable and over the 10 days that I had the machine my knee went from massively swollen and grapefruit-like to almost normal. It was a relief to use after my (sometimes painful) physio exercises and I feel has helped me get to a point where I’m ready for my ACL reconstruction. Recommended!

Pippa arranged a fascinating lecture at Rosslyn Park where her colleague Dr. Katy Hornby
is the medical lead and spoke to an audience of parents, coaches and referees about concussion.

We tend to think of concussion as more of a rugby thing but in fact footballers are also at risk and I would have thought it was more likely in the adult game but its clear to me now that parents need to be fully informed about the symptoms, the recovery time and how very careful junior players need to be about returning to their sport, however much they may love it and be desperate to get back on the pitch.

The three things that stood out for me were that :

1) you don’t have to be hit on the head to get concussion – it can just as easily happen with a rapid head movement and no contact

2) we still don’t know exactly what is going on physiologically in the brain following concussion

3) children are especially vulnerable to something called second impact syndrome, where the brain has not recovered from the initial impact and another much milder force can be catastrophic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second-impact_syndrome

Its funny how sometimes you can learn something new and almost immediately it feels like everyone is talking about it!

Since the lecture there has been a radio 4 programme about concussion in football (not only during tackles but when they are ‘heading ‘ the ball, footballers can risk injury) and of course there was the controversy following the England Wales rugby match while more locally a young amateur footballer was hospitalised in a coma, thankfully now recovered.

Hi Stephen, Just a quick email to says thanks for your help in February / March following the problems I had with my leg from running. I’m pleased to say that the exercises have worked and I got myself back on track with my training. I managed a 12 mile run last week and 11 miles the week before that. I’m running the half marathon as planned on Sunday and feel very confident that I will complete it in around 2 hours. Thanks again for all you help.

I wanted to feed back to you how impressed I am with your Women’s Health Physio service run by Megan Vickers. Thank you so much for solving my pelvic floor and bladder training problem, which i am pleased to say, continues to be fine.Megan is professional, friendly and relaxed which creates a good atmosphere to discuss matters which are perhaps difficult to talk about for some women. I suffered for at least 3 years and so wish i had known about Megan earlier. I would and deffinately will recommend the Women’s Health Physio to anyone I hear talking about problems which I now know can probably be helped with Physio. I have two Sisters who have had bladder operations and after having seen Megan for Physio I am very confident that I shall not be following them to the operating table. Thank you Megan. I will mention your service to my GP in Twickenham.

Many thanks also for the assistance and help you have provided to me since I first came to see you.

I really do appreciate your help and professionalism and to be honest the service I have received at Richmond Physiotherapy. It has frankly been orders of magnitude  more professional, more informed, more systematic, more structured  and of  course of more benefit to me than that provided by several other Chartered Physiotherapists that I have previously seen concerning these  matters.

So it really is worth “shopping around” to find a good one!

Many thanks and the good news is that I am sure there is more money to be earned from me yet over the years to come!

Stephen invested the time and effort to diagnose the real problem. He then came up with the right treatment and I am now running pain free. In addition, via a running assessment, I also received some great advice on simple ways I could improve the efficiency of my running form. A great local physio. Cheers Bruce. February 2013

I just wanted to thank Stephen Perchard for the excellent job he has done with me, he literally brought me back to life. I had what the doctors call “mechanical back pain”. I wasn’t able to move because my back muscles were very tense and stiff. I needed the help of my husband for getting dress and sometimes even to take a shower! I was very desperate. I’ve tried many different treatments but none of them worked for me. The first appointment I had with Stephen was an eye-opening experience. He assured me that my spine was fine. I didn’t have any injury. The problem was that I was so afraid and scared of moving that my brain was making me think I had a problem. I didn’t believe him, I was sure I had a problem, so it took a long time to build my confidence. Stephen did exactly that, he helped me to work my muscles with a specific set of exercises and he managed to bring my confidence back. Since then I have been able to resume my daily activities. I am very grateful to him! Best Regards, Esmeralda. February 2013

Kathryn Brodie has been the best physiotherapist from all the ones I’ve tried in the past four months. She is very assertive in her diagnostic and also very effective in the way of treating my problem. I would appreciate if the management of the Richmond Physiotherapy Practice could recognise the extraordinary work of Kathryn. She is also very friendly and nice. Cuevas Montserrat September 2012

Hi Richmond Physio team, I would like to give some feedback following my recent consultations with Pippa Rollitt. During my training for an Ironman event I picked up a running injury with approximately a month to go before the race. I was devastated as I wasn’t able to run for more than 5 minutes without starting to limp and slow down. After 3 sessions with Pippa Rollitt and a strict exercise routine which she wrote up for me and some deep tissue massage, I was able to run again! I went on to complete the 21km run in 2 hours at the end of the Ironman 70.3, I think she is truly a miracle worker and am very grateful for all her help. Kind regards, Nick Newman June 2012

The knee has felt great and I don’t notice any difference now to before my injury. In terms of rugby success, it is going well. I made my debut for the u21 2nds two weeks ago at sandhurst . Today my college team won the first league and I managed to dominate the current U21 loosehead, the scrummaging is coming back! Now that it’s all come together I finally feel that all the work was worth it. I couldn’t have done it without your help, so thank you! Hopefully see you soon (without injury). Duncan

I would highly recommend Richmond Physiotherapy, whose first class services I discovered
a few years ago, following a total knee replacement. After a recent fall injuring my shoulder and other knee I didn’t hesitate to return, even though we have now moved to Haslemere . I was treated by Bridget Burleigh, who is brilliant. I have been so impressed

I recently completed a series of physio sessions at Richmond Physiotherapy for my shoulder and I could not have been more impressed. Everyone was very friendly and professional and the care I was given was excellant. Brad understood my shoulder condition exactly and he carefully explained it to me which I appreciated very much. He recommended the best stretches and exercises which have now stablised the shoulder and removed the pain. Thank you Richmond Physiotherapy!

I have been treated for knee and ligament pains by Yoshiko at Richmond Physiotherapy over several months. She came highly recommended to me by a physiotherapist. She achieves outstanding results with little pain and her methods proved highly effective compared with other sports massage therapists and priced very competitively.

I had a bad whiplash neck injury as a child and for many years was taken to a variety of physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths and sports injury specialists to try to improve the pain I was suffering. Kate Sheehy was the first to resolve the pain in my neck, and is now the only physiotherapist I will visit. I did try others for a time when I wasn’t living in the area, but none compared. I therefore used to travel from Central London to see her. More recently I have received some massage therapy from Yoshiko, who is also fabulous. The combination of Kate and Yoshiko completely keep my neck problems at bay.

After knee surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL, Richmond Physiotherapy organised intensive therapy to rehabilitate the knee. Having worked with Kate Sheehy before I knew that they would be the only practice I would trust with recovery. Kate and Marika Feddema not only provided accurate therapy that rehabilitated my knee, but importantly managed my expectations and enthuiasm to continue working on the knee, when at times, the process of recovery was slow and sometimes painful. I cannot thank them enough for ensuring I remained positive througout the programme. The smallest of improvements were celebrated. Any sort of trauma is personally felt, having trust in Kate and Marika made the 4-month rehabilitation a success and for that I am indebted to them. My recommendation not only covers their professionalism but also their patient relations.

Following a broken leg in December 2004, which resulted in my leg being pinned, a friend recommended I attend Richmond Physiotherapy. Kate Sheehy managed my recovery plan and did such a good job that I was back on my feet and off crutches much earlier than expected. Indeed when I returned to my consultant four weeks after the operation he was so amazed at my progress that he took Kateʼs details so that he would be able to recommend future patients. As with most things in life a “word of mouth” recommendation is worth far more than finding something in the yellow pages. Bearing this in mind I can honestly say I couldnʼt recommend Richmond Physiotherapy highly enough. Their care and attention is second to none, but they also manage to get the best result in the speediest of time frames.

I was born with fused discs in my neck which only became apparent during my 20s. When I came to the UK, I searched for years to find a physio who could treat the pain and swelling successfully and enable me to live normally. From the first visit, Kate Sheey demonstrated a total understanding of the problem and even better, knew how to resolve it. Iʼve been back to normal since her treatment! Recently, I also had major surgery on my left foot and again, her experience was critical in getting me mobile very quickly and back to work.

I have had numerous operations and problems with my right knee and was looking to find a physio who would provide me with good advice and rehab exercises. At Richmond Physio I have received excellent treatment from Pippa Rollitt; she devised a programme of exercises that have helped me to steadily strengthen the right knee and get back to enjoying a reasonably active lifestyle. I have been most impressed by Richmond Physio and in particular the quality of their advice, providing long term solutions and their friendly caring aproach.
